Gary Ramseyer, our own in-house Dr. Humor of the stat set, retired in December, 1998, after 30 years of service. Although he was widely known in measurement circles for his three publications with Dr. Valjean Cashen on the use of separate multiple-choice answer sheets in the early elementary grades and in statistical circles for his robustness studies of the q-statistic with Dr. Kup Cheng, he is perhaps more widely acclaimed for his Web site called the First Internet Galley of Statistics Jokes, which was developed in 1997. This Web site is highly ranked by Google™, has 150-250 hits a day, and has over 525 links from many prestigious statistical Web sites throughout the entire world.
Gary enjoys an active retirement, where he enjoys winters in Florida, summers in Bloomington/Normal, and traveling as much as possible. His five grandsons and sailing adventures are also his favorite activities. Keeping track of Iowa football, of course, is a must. When in town, Gary can often be found working out at the Student Recreation Center or enjoying coffee with his professor buddies at Panera Bread.
