As demand for professional practice experience increases, there
is a corresponding need for more internship sites.
The department is interested in expanding its
list of internship sites at both clinically-focused
organizations and at other types of business
settings. Increasing the number of internship
sites will allow psychology majors with varying
interests an opportunity to gain
valuable, “hands-on” experience.
How can alumni assist in providing such practical
learning experiences to our students?
Consider sponsoring a professional practice
experience in your workplace by supervising
one or more interns. Students
are looking for experience in applying their
knowledge of psychology. Most professional
practice experiences are unpaid. Getting paid
for the experience is certainly appreciated
by the students, but is not expected. Your
help in opening your workplace to provide
motivated psychology majors with practical
experience will provide a wonderful opportunity
to help these students as well as a chance
to give back to the Department of Psychology.

internship coordinator, Dr. Karen Mark, at
