These ratings reflect a summary evaluation of all teaching activity, including student evaluations of classroom teaching, research supervision, other out-of-class contact with students, involvement in curriculum development, guest lecturing, and publications and presentations related to teaching. The ratings are on a 0 to 5 scale where 0 = inadequate, 1 = satisfactory, 2 = meritorious, 3 = highly meritorious, 4 = superior, and 5 = exceptional teaching. Ratings are made by an elected committee of Psychology Department Faculty. (Prior to 1998, consensus ratings were used; beginning in 1998, averages have been used).
