Department of Psychology at Illinois State University
Students admitted into a graduate sequence (Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences, Developmental Psychology, Industrial/Organizational-Social Psychology, or Quantitative Psychology) in the Department of Psychology may apply to complete a second (“dual”) sequence.
Click on the link to download the Application for a Dual Sequences to the computer's desktop. The application is a Microsoft Word form. Fill in the application on the computer. Handwritten applications will not be accepted. Students should print and sign the completed application and submit it to their current sequence coordinator. If appropriate, the coordinator may write a letter to the second sequence coordinator supporting the application. The application and letter of support will be submitted to the coordinator of the second sequence. The faculty of the second sequence will review the application and consider if the sequence is appropriate considering the student's goals, qualifications, and the sequence’s resources (e.g., space limitation, faculty availability, etc.).
The coordinator of the second sequence has the authority to approve or deny the application for dual sequences. The coordinator of the second sequence should complete the lower portion of the application. After the decision has been made, the coordinator will return the application to the student. If dual sequences are approved, students must make a copy of the approved application for the coordinator of their original sequence and for the Graduate Psychology Programs Office,
If the application is approved, students must also complete the Graduate Application for Admission/Re-admission and attach the original approved dual sequences application to the top of the admission/re-admission form, which is the official application to the University for dual sequences. Students are responsible for submitting the admission/re-admission application and approved dual sequences application to Admissions. Admissions will send an official Decision Sheet to the department. After the Decision Sheet has been received by the department, students are formally admitted to the dual sequences.
