Department of Psychology at Illinois State University
Students admitted into a graduate sequence (Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences, Developmental Psychology, Industrial/Organizational-Social Psychology, or Quantitative Psychology) in the Department of Psychology may apply to complete a second (“dual”) sequence.
Application for a Dual Sequence
The application is a Microsoft Word form. Click on the link to download the application to the computer's desktop. Fill in the application on the computer and then print it. The completed and signed application should be submitted to their current sequence coordinator. If appropriate, the coordinator should write a letter supporting the application to seek dual sequence status.
The application and support letter are submitted to the coordinator of the second sequence. The area faculty of the second sequence will review the application and consider the fit of the area’s sequence with the student's goals, qualifications, and the sequence’s resources (e.g., space limitation, faculty availability, etc.). The faculty of the second sequence may consult with the faculty in the original sequence.
The coordinator of the second sequence should complete the lower portion of the application. The coordinator will approve or deny the application and return the signed application to the student. Students must make a copy of the signed application for the coordinator of their original sequence and for the Graduate Psychology Programs office,
If the application is approved, students should complete the Graduate Application for Admission/Re-admission and attach the original approved dual sequence application to the top of this form. This form is the official application to the University for a dual sequence and should be submitted to Admissions (Hovey 211). An official Decision Sheet will be forwarded to the Department of Psychology from Admissions. After the Decision Sheet has been processed, students are formally admitted to the dual sequences.
