The Illinois State Foundation Fellowship is for applicants who have been admitted to a degree program but have not begun coursework at Illinois State University. This fellowship is a University-wide award. The Department of Psychology reserves the right to nominate the most competitive applicants from all graduate psychology programs for Foundation Fellowship consideration. Typically the Department submits approximately 10-15 applications for review each year.
Graduate program or sequence coordinators will select students who are eligible to submit applications for the fellowship. The application must be submitted to the department by March 5. Students should not submit the fellowship application to the Graduate School.
See the Graduate School for information and applications for Graduate Assistantships, Tuition Waivers (Graduate, Minority, and International), Scholarships, Fellowships, and Grants-in-Aid.
Graduate students may apply for assistantships directly to the Department of Psychology by completing an application. Graduate assistantships carry a stipend and a full tuition waiver for the semester in which the assistantship is held and for the following summer semester.
The Department of Psychology competitively awards tuition waivers to students who show promise for success and who have not received a fellowship or other award for tuition costs. To apply, complete and submit the tuition waiver application and the Selective Service Statement to the appropriate office. Tuition waivers are only available for the the cost of tuition.
Grants-in-Aid are annual awards that support research travel for students who apply and justify their request for funds. Grants-in-Aid are sponsored by the Graduate Student Association.
The Graduate School also provides funds for travel costs, which are matched by the department, to professional conventions to present research, which was also presented at the Graduate Research Symposium. See Presentation Expense Reimbursement Form at the bottom of the Graduate School's Research Symposia Web site.
