Curriculum Vitae

The curriculum vitae (CV) is the academic version of a resume. It should include contact information, a list and description of educational history and experiences relevant to graduate school, presentations (e.g., undergraduate research symposium) and publications, honors and awards, and the names and addresses for references. Review the sample CV for a suggested format.

Most department faculty have their vitae posted on their Web sites; look at faculty CVs for an appropriate format. When developing a CV include only the sections that reflect personal experiences (e.g., if there are no publications, do not include this section). Check to see if the graduate school application requires submitting a CV.
