The Department of Psychology
does not typically admit students
who have completed 75 hours or more to the
Major in Psychology. We want students who graduate
from Illinois State with a Major in Psychology
to have spent at least two years in the undergraduate
psychology program. Therefore, students should
plan on applying to the Major before they have
completed 75 hours. Exceptions to this
department policy have been made, but they
are very rare. Students who are granted an
exception may not be able to graduate in
four years.
Illinois State students, who have
or will have completed 75 hours or more,
need to submit the Application for the
Major in Psychology
(MS
Word)
(PDF).
Click on the Microsoft Word link to download
the form to the computer's desktop. Adobe® Acrobat® is
needed to access the PDF version. If the PDF
form does not open, click on Adobe
Reader to download a free copy of the software.
Both versions of the application are interactive.
Complete the form online before printing it;
then sign the application. The application should
be submitted to the department in DeGarmo 435.
This application requires students to identify
the courses needed to complete the Major in
Psychology and other Illinois State graduation
requirements. Admission to the Major in Psychology
does not guarantee students will be able to
enroll in the specific courses listed in their
application, as many other factors affect which
courses are offered each semester and enrollment
levels.
Applications to the Major in Psychology
are accepted only during September, February,
and May through July.
